After previously leaking the existence of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, Ryce has now detailed the game’s supposed full roster. While fans should take this with a grain of salt, this is slightly more credible after his previous leak. If the base roster discussed is legitimate, this could be the most creatively bankrupt Marvel vs Capcom game ever made.
Fans can see the alleged roster on NeoGAF, where fans have expressed their interest and disgust for the roster. Admittedly, the company is planning a number of DLC Character Passes ala Street Fighter 5, but that doesn’t help. Most gamers already prepared themselves for the lack of X-Men and Fantastic Four characters, but even with that the roster is lacking.
Here is the leaked Marvel vs Capcom Infinite roster, though neither company has confirmed this to be true. Some of the characters have already been announced, like Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Ryu and Mega Man X. There’s a clear bias to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but even with that, the lack of creative characters is outstanding.
- Chris Redfield
- Monster Hunter
- Strider Hiryu
- Frank West (maybe)
- Captain America
- Captain Marvel
- Doctor Strange
- Iron Man
- Rocket and Groot
Now to be fair, there are a few interesting characters of note, like Ant-Man, Jedah, and Monster Hunter. However, everyone else seems to be obvious returnees from Marvel vs Capcom 3 or older games, not making it feel new. Sigma has already been confirmed as DLC, and Venom has supposedly been leaked, but as far as the base roster goes, this is disappointing.
If this ends up being the final base roster for Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, it really shows the lack of creativity on the part of the developers. While the focus on MCU mainstays was expected, not having characters like Black Widow or Black Panther is head scratching. The lack of Inhumans is also disappointing, since Blackbolt, Medusa, and Ms. Marvel would have added a lot to the game.
Capcom’s roster is also pretty disappointing, with Monster Hunter and Jedah being the only surprises for that sidee. Why both Arthur and Firebrand were kept is a mystery, and the lack of newer characters like Asura or Resident Evil 7‘s Jack Baker is questionable. Keeping Resident Evil 5 Chris Redfield and Nemesis also dates the game a bit, after the brilliance that was Resident Evil 7.
While this roster could end up being fake, the fact that Royce leaked the game before adds some credibility to it. One would think that with all the characters from Marvel’s TV shows and Capcom’s various titles, we would see more creativity involved. Here is hoping that Marvel vs Capcom Infinite surprises fans with it’s gameplay or story mode, since the initial roster impressions are really disappointing.
