Marvel TV, Movie Merge Implied In ‘Infinity War’ Poster Shared By Robert Downey, Jr.; Why This May Not Happen

By on

Robert Downey Jr. recently posted on his Facebook page a poster of the upcoming Marvel movie Infinity War. The photo suggests a crossover between the Cinematic Universe and the TV Universe and it certainly confuses the fans. However, it seems like that would not be the case as updates come in.

First proof that the poster is not credible are the titles written on it. It features movie names Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2, when it can be recalled that directors Joe and Anthony Russo have already announced that the two films will be titled differently because they are ?very different.?

Aside from that solid evidence, there is also a speculation that Downey shared a fan-made poster, which was possibly made few months back. If that would be true, then it would certainly turn out that the poster is a hoax. Also, back in December 2015, director Anthony Russo already clarified that a crossover between MCU and MTVU is not going to happen.

?It?s complicated. When we start to serialize the telling of stories is difficult. You have to have a lot of control and focus on the course of history. The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit,? said Russo. ?Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others. It is a smaller version of the problem that exists when thinking that Fox has the rights to certain characters, Sony, and others,? he added.

Meanwhile, speaking of Robert Downey Jr. and Infinity War, there are speculations that the actor who will play Iron Man in the movie is going to be different. Tony Stark is rumored to be replaced by Riri Williams, the female version of the superhero.

Downey is set to appear in the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Homecoming and according to predictions, he is going to be killed or disappear there. This would give way to Williams? entry in the 2018 Avengers movie. In the comic version, Stark is figuring out who he really is without the Iron Man suit. It was also noted that because of the stress, the billionaire philanthropist will hit the road and be replaced by Williams.

If MCU will follow the happenings in the comic version, then Stark is indeed going to disappear in the upcoming Marvel movies. However, fans should keep in mind that films do not always stick to its sources and directors create their own path. So, there is still a chance that we are still going to see Robert Downey Jr. and his iconic Tony Stark in the upcoming Avengers movies.

How about you? Do you think a crossover between the MCU and MTVU is going to be possible? Will Tony Stark die in the Spider-Man movie? Share your thoughts in the comment section below. Infinity War is scheduled to hit the big screens on May 4, 2018.
