Married At First Sight Australia Season 3 Premiere is in the hot seat once again!
Season 1 have had some mixed reviews but some hard lessons were quite evident. Marriage should never be born out of loneliness, desperation, nor should it be guided by “scientific” relationship experts. Moreover, having all this drama played out for all the world to see is a god-forsaken idea.
Only one couple from its first season survived while the rest were eager to get out the first chance they got. But after all was said and done, lo and behold- ?Married At First Sight Australia Season 3 Premiere airs tonight at 8:40 p.m on Channel Nine!
This season the execs decided to make it juicier for the public by putting real gay couples in the show. This caused a raucous, even causing more than 20,000 people to petition for the shows’ cancellation! A lot of people found the show very insensitive as it was launched the same week when equality in marriage was being debated in the Australian Senate.
Despite all the opposition, Married At First Sight is weirdly one of the very few reality formats allowing equal representation for LGBT couples. From the very beginning of the first season, it was already mentioned that these marriages are not legally binding. Therefore, today’s legislation will not be a threat to the show. It could even manage to become the commercial series having the highest ratings. That is, if some of these couples decide to legalize their union at the end.
Sadly though, it?s really about the ratings and the money in the end. Hopefully, TV?execs could take LGBT issues seriously with genuine passion and concern. For the meantime, this is as good as it gets.
