Mario Raving Rabbids Crossover

Last year, prior to the Nintendo Switch launch, there were unconfirmed reports making rounds online that Mario and his pals from the Mushroom Kingdom would team up with the Rabbids for a yet to be confirmed strategy, role-playing game. Earlier this week, a leak surfaced “confirming” rumors that the RPG indeed exists.

Alleged artwork from Ubisoft’s secret game reportedly called Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle has emerged via a tweet. The leaked photo shows a Rabbid in a Princess Peach costume. It has since been taken down but Comic Book managed to get its hands on the full version of the artwork featured up above.

To keep you updated, we rounded up below everything we know about Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle so far

Mario Raving Rabbids Crossover Gameplay – What is it about?

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will basically mix Nintendo’s iconic plumber and friends with characters from Ubisoft’s popular Rabbids series. Little is known about the game at this point but per Kotaku, it’ll be a turn-based RPG with local co-op to boot.

“The game’s selling points appear to be a) turn-based combat, b) two-player local co-op, and c) a goofy sense of humor. (The art we’ve seen features Mario and crew wielding guns that shoot laser beams.)”

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Characters – Who’s Appearing?

Mario + Rabbid Kingdoms Battle is being developed using Ubisoft’s Snowdrop Engine, the same engine used on The Division.  It will apparently feature eight playable characters including Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi and, oddly enough, four Rabbids dressed up as the aforementioned Nintendo characters. Each of them is said to sport “their own sci-fi weapons, laser guns, arm cannons, etc.” which would be very different for the traditionally unarmed cast of Mushroom Kingdom characters.

Cameos are possible but remain unconfirmed as well.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Release Date – When is it coming out?

According to the publication’s sources, the RPG is currently in production for Nintendo Switch. It will make its debut at Electronic Entertainment Expo next month for an August 2017 release. Again, neither Nintendo nor Ubisoft responded to the game rumors yet, let alone tease it. But here are their E3 2017 schedules:

  • Ubisoft: 1 pm PDT / 9 pm BST on Monday, June 12
  • Nintendo Spotlight E3 2017: 9 am PDT / 5 pm BST on Tuesday, June 13

For now, these are the only available details about the game. But we’ll be sure to update you here at The Bitbag once new information emerges. In the meantime, let us know what you expect from the Mario Raving Rabbids crossover in the comments section below.
