The open-world and underrated series, Mafia, is going to get its third installment sometime soon with Mafia 3 in the works. It’s been years since the release of Mafia 2, and the hype for the upcoming game is stronger than ever. Fans have already seen how the title looks through a gameplay trailer, and here’s more of what we know about the game so far as well as rumors regarding the Mafia 3 release date.
Mafia III Plot
2K Games recently detailed a summary of the upcoming game via GameSpot. According to the publisher, the main protagonist of Mafia III will be Vietnam veteran Lincoln Clay. Clay was an orphan growing up, and he found family within his city?s mob. Things turn sour when his ?family? was betrayed and killed by the Italian mob. Mafia 3 will follow Clay?s search for vengeance in New Orleans.
The story itself is intriguing and will follow Clay?s story as he transforms from a war vet to one of New Orlean?s top mobsters. There?s no news yet of how or if the game will tie up to past Mafia titles.
Late last year, a short gameplay teaser of Mafia III was released. It showed off how the game would look like, and its visuals were impressive. Gameplay-wise, Mafia III featured the basic gameplay mechanics of third-person shooters but other features unique to the game haven’t been detailed yet.

However, publisher 2K did not confirm whether the rumored release date is real or not. On the other hand, according to Amazon, the game will launch on December 30.
