The new macOS Sierra boasts the integration of Siri to the Macintosh operating system. Initially, Siri was only available on iOS devices as well as watchOS and tvOS. Now, the digital assistant can help users search files, sort them out and pin them on the notification board. Users can also launch different applications, play their music, and even check the weather.
Users can also ask Siri to change System Preferences like adjust the screen brightness, send messages and initiate FaceTime calls. All the goodness available with Siri on iOS are also in the macOS Sierra, plus more.
Apart from Siri, the new OS also sports tighter integration with Apple Watch. macOS Sierra users who also own an Apple Watch can unlock their systems automatically with the new feature ?Auto Unlock?.
The new operating system also features better integration with iCloud storage. Now, users can automatically sync their files on Apple?s online storage service. Files are organised based on applications available on the Mac. Pages, Numbers, Keynotes, even TextEdit and Script Editor have their individual folders, all neatly organized.
For those who are running low on storage, the new OS now has a new function called ?Optimize Storage?. Tucked within the ?About This Mac? menu, this neat little feature will delete any video from iTunes that have been watched already. It will also let users select whether the Mail App will download email attachments or not. This feature will definitely come in handy especially on those machines with small storage.
Users who find themselves switching devices every now and then can take advantage of the universal clipboard feature. This clipboard is synced to all the devices that the user owns. From iPhone to iPad, and of course Macs, users can paste whatever is on the clipboard. Of course, the clipboard expires every few minutes. This way, users will not get confused by pasting something that has been copied hours ago.
