MacOS Is Official: What’s In A Name?

Apple has announced the new operating system for its laptops and desktops. The successor of Mac OS 10 will be named ?macOS Sierra? not something like earlier operating systems. Apple senior VP of software engineering Craig Federighi announced the new Sierra during the Worldwide Developer?s Conference on June 13.

It’s not clear why the tech giant have changed the name of its upcoming OS. It could be that the company wants to launch the new macOS as a totally new operating system or to name it like the company’s other operating systems like iOS, watchOS and tvOS.

The name doesn’t matter, users mainly concern about the features, as Apple has made notable changes this time. It’s not just about introduction of Siri to Macbooks or desktops. Apple has also added a couple of other interesting and really meaningful features. Let’s discuss the first thing first.

Siri was originally introduced as an iOS application available in the App Store by Siri Inc., which was acquired by Apple on April 28, 2010. Since than Apple has not made any significant change

Siri, Apple?s artificial intelligence will now be a part of the company?s computers as well. It will work in a same way as it does in other devices like iPhone and iPad. It can call a contact, send a message, search music and other things on internet. Additionally, it will also explore the device and save it as a history of your searches.

Moreover, rumors say that that it will also support a Google home like speaker that will take the Artificial intelligence to a next level. Apple?s subsidiary Beats is supposed to manufacture to manufacture this speaker. However the company has not yet announced anything about it.

Apple will also another interesting feature that will unlock the Mac devices with Apple wearables. There are speculations that upcoming Macbook Pro will feature OLED touch bar with integrated fingerprint reader but this feature is more interesting. It will unlock the device when it’s close to the computer. It means, all that the users have to do is wear a watch and your computer will automatically lock or unlock according to your presence.

Furthermore, Apple will launch universal clipboard on both macOS and iOS powered devices. With this function users will be able to Copy text from one device to other more easily.

The macOS is currently available for developers and its beta version would be available in July. Apple is expected to launch the new OS with its upcoming laptop Macbook Pro in September this year.
