MacBook Pro 2016 has yet to receive an official release date. However, a recent update said that techies can expect the new laptop to be thinner and lighter than MacBook Air.

The Air variant of Apple?s laptop line-up boasts of an incredibly thin 0.68-inch unibody design that weighs only 2.38 pounds. It is known for being the company?s slimmest and most lightweight MacBook.

Mobipicker said that MacBook Pro 2016 will soon hold this title. Aside from the significant improvements on its weight and size, there are also rumors that the newest model will sport the best display and resolution seen in any Apple laptop.

Making the laptop lighter and thinner has made several critics question if the notebook?s battery life will be compromised. However, the device?s Intel Skylake processor is expected to have this covered, so that users do not need to worry about running out of power too quickly.

The said MacBook Pro 2016 update comes amid rumors that Apple might end up phasing out MacBook Air soon. Several insiders have pointed out that the Cupertino-based tech giant has not yet announced anything about the said product, and without any official statement over the last couple of months, it is not unlikely for MacBook Air to be cancelled.

Industry insiders pointed out that Apple?s Air variant is no longer that unique since there are already a lot of portable ? and more affordable – laptops in the market.

The new MacBook Pro 2016 will also be powered with Intel?s latest-generation Skylake processors. These increase the computer?s performance and battery life. Aside from this, the new MacBook will also reportedly run macOS Sierra.

There is still no official confirmation regarding the launch dates and exact features of both MacBook Pro 2016 and MacBook Air, but TheBitBag will be on the lookout for any updates.
