Marvel adds another epic show to their series universe as they introduce Luke Cage. The new TV series from Netflix will begin their production sometime next week, according to IGN. Marvel?s Luke Cage series will feature an incredible set of villains for our new hero for hire.
Willis Stryker a.k.a. Diamondback, apparently portrayed by Mike Colter, will eventually be the main antagonist for the TV Show. Stryker will become Luke Cage?s archenemy in the whole first season. For those who don?t know the shows main villain, Diamondback was first introduced in ?Luke Cage, Hero for Hire #1? in 1972. They were supposedly friends once until Stryker betrayed Luke Cage?s trust by framing him for a crime he didn?t commit.
Another addition to the third series from Marvel will be Luke Cage classic villain Black Mariah, who will be portrayed by Alfre Woodard, according to Screen Crush. She first appeared in ?Luke Cage, Hero for Hire #5? in 1972. She?s supposedly a 400 pound, drug dealing boss who went toe-to-toe with Luke Cage.
Here is the synopsis from Heroic Hollywood:
?Luke Cage is a former gang member who is framed for a crime. In prison, he volunteers for a medical experiment that goes awry, giving him super strength and bulletproof skin. Using his newfound powers, Cage escapes and becomes a hero for hire. His archenemy is Willy Stryker, a former childhood friend from Harlem. The two committed petty crimes together, and both fell for the same woman, Reva Connors, which led to their eventual falling out. It was Stryker who framed Cage for a drug deal that sent him to prison.?
