Last week, LG announced about the upcoming LG V20 launch from their Korean social media site. Prior to that, they also boasted that their newest flagship smartphone will be the first to have the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
In the press release that LG gave today, it seems they will have another ?world?s first? for the V20. The company publicly announced that the V20 will be the first mobile phone to support a 32-bit Quad DAC. This announcement is in line with LG?s aim for the V20 to be an ?entertainment centric? mobile device.
A quad DAC (digital to analog converter) is capable of delivering high quality sound when used with compatible wired headphones. The sound quality is comparable to the clear and crisp sound of a live performance. This technology can also reduce up to 50 percent of ambient noise. Videos taken with the V20 will have clear audio even with loud background noise.
LG has been working closely with Eastern Sound System to ensure that the LG V20 delivers the best audio experience to its users. ESS has been on the front line of digital audio research and development for more than three decades. They are responsible for the production of early speech enabled toys including the iconic home computer, the Commodore 64. LG and ESS have worked together previously on the 32-bit high fidelity digital to analog converter of the V10.
According to Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company:
?As smartphones mature, we?re seeing more and more customers looking beyond just fast processors and big displays in their devices. Higher quality audio is simply the natural evolution of the smartphone, as the industry moves toward a more holistic multimedia consumption experience. We?re pleased to continue this long-term partnership with ESS and bring best in class audio to LG V20 users.?
ESS has also expressed their enthusiasm about the current partnership with LG.
?We are extremely excited that our Quad DAC technology will be featured in the V20, LG?s latest flagship smartphone for consumers who demand the best media experience.?
– Robert Blair, President and CEO of ESS
