A new toys-to-life game expected to rival Disney Infinity and Skylanders is slated to arrive on September 27. Lego and Warner Bros. has announced Lego Dimensions, a joined effort that will allow players to deploy collectible minifigures and pieces in a video game using near-field communication (NFC) technology.
?Dimensions? turn Lego bricks into playable game characters
Lego Dimensions is developed by TT Games and aims to merge Lego brick building with console gameplay in a way that?s only imaginable in the Lego world. Popular movie and comic book universes, such as The Lord of the Rings, DC Comics, The Lego Movie, Lego Ninjago, The Wizard of Oz, Back to the Future, and many more, will fuse together in one exciting title.
The starter pack will cost $99 (according to Toys R Us listings) and will include the game, a Lego Toy Pad, three Lego minifigures (Gandalf, Wyldstyle, and The Lego Movie’s Batman), a Lego Batmobile, as well as Lego Gateway building bricks.
This upcoming game draws its plot inspiration from The Lego Movie as Gandalf, ?Wyldstyle, and Batman embarked on a quest to save friends who have been sucked into strange vortices that appear without warning in different Lego worlds. The trailer below shows appearances of characters from various fictional universes.
