A big Legendary Pokemon update might be coming soon. It seems fans will not have to wait long to catch some rare Pokemon as they are set to arrive next year. Rumor has it that Niantic is planning a special release date.

The Legendary Pokemon have been absent from the game since its launch. This could finally change next year. Latest Pokemon Go news suggests that no Legendary Pokemon will be released before the year ends.

It is speculated that Niantic plans to release the legendary Pokemon in spring of 2017. It seems that would be perfect timing. Players can comfortably leave their homes and explore.

A spring 2017 release would also complement the fact that Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos are all bird Pokemon. All of these Pokemon are yet to land in Pokemon Go.

The same is true for Mew and Mewtwo. The game was released six months ago. Fans were left wondering about when these Pokemon will appear on their smartphones. It seems they will make a grand entrance very soon.

No Legendary Pokemon Update for 2016

Several fans were hoping that the Legendary Pokemon update will be released last Christmas. It was apparently not the case. Niantic appears to have had other things in mind.

Instead, fans were able to enjoy the Pokemon Go Christmas event. It went live on Christmas Day. The event was launched with free Incubators and brand new gift packs. All these were available from the in-game store.

The Pokemon Go Christmas update is set to conclude on January 3, 2017. Until then, players can enjoy a better chance of finding Togepi, Pikachu and other Gen 2 Pokemon.

Players also have better chances of finding Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise.
