Legend of the Blue Sea Korean drama will debut tonight, much to the excitement of Lee Min Ho?s fans. Just recently, the actor made comments that fueled comparisons between his new series and Descendants of the Sun.

The SBS production will be the Asian superstar?s major TV comeback after three years. He last appeared in The Heirs in 2013, which aired on the same network.
In Legend of the Blue Sea, movie actress Jun Ji Hyun will play his leading lady. The actress is best known for the hit Asian film My Sassy Girl. It was recently reported that showrunners casted her co-star, Cha Tae Hyun, for a cameo in her new series.
There have also been rumors that other Hallyu celebrities will make guest appearances throughout its run.

The fantasy ? love story is inspired by a classic Joseon legend. Jun Ji Hyun will play a mermaid who will fall in love with a human played by Lee Min Ho. However, the female protagonist will supposedly be transported into the future. This is where she will meet her love interest?s modern day version, who is a genius con artist.
Fans are excited to see how Jun Ji Hyun will portray a mermaid, which is a physically strenuous role. Many are also looking forward to how Lee Min Ho will effectively play dual characters for the first time.

With all the publicity surrounding the series, Lee Min Ho recently declared that he is hopeful to get high ratings.
According to the 29-year-old, he wants his TV comeback to premiere with at least 12 to 13% viewership. Eventually, he wants the audience share to surpass 30%.
If Legend of the Blue Sea can accomplish this, the show will be as successful as Descendants of the Sun. The war-themed drama got over 30% ratings when it ended last April and had millions of viewers worldwide.
Its phenomenal success resulted to talks about a movie installment. Coincidentally, Descendants of the Sun was helmed by the same producers behind the hit Asian movie Train to Busan.
