As I?m sure many of you have noticed the PSN is having issues. If you haven?t heard yet and you are a proud owner of a PS3 Phat, DO NOT TURN IT ON! There are a number of issues that the PSN is actually creating on Phat consoles themselves so you would be well advised to leave your system off. If you are running a new slim model you should be fine to turn your system on and play. Sony says they should have the issues corrected within 24 hours but recommends you leave your PS3 Phats powered off.
The issue looks like it?s a firmware issue dealing with Phat PS3 dealing with its internal clock. The firmware has slight differences for the different form factors; e.g. Linux, HDMI control. Even if your PS3 is not connected to the network the clock will change to 12/31/1999 and you will have issues with games that support trophies. Sony says they have ?narrowed down the issue and have engineers working to restore service even as you read this.?
I will keep you posted!
