Kylie and Dannii Minogue Perform Duet On TV For The First Time in 30 Years (Watch)

By on

Pop star sisters Kylie and Dannii Minogue performed a disco number together for the first time in 30 years during the grand finale of The X-Factor Australia.

The famous sisters looked like ?70?s divas dressed in matching leotards with mirrored straps as they performed the song ?100 Degrees? from Kylie’s Christmas album, ?Kylie Christmas?.

The last time the pair sang together on television was in 1986 when they performed ?Sisters Doing It For Themselves? on an Australian variety show called ?Talent Time.?

X-Factor mentor Dannii, 44, admitted that they turned down offers to appear together, saving it for an opportunity that was ‘special and right’ and the X-Factor final seemed like the perfect event for their long overdue TV duet.

?Early on it was important to separate ourselves,? Dannii admitted to news.com.au.

?Anyone who hears the song is then singing it for the rest of the day,? Dannii says of ?100 Degrees?. ?When Kylie sent me the song as a potential duet, by the end of the first chorus I was in. It?s so Minogue magic,? she said of the Donna Summer-inspired track.

?I thought it’d be wrong to have a Christmas album without a mention of it being blazing hot at Christmas time,? Kylie told Nova 969’s?Fitzy and Wippa.??’I’m happy to sing about snow and winter wonderland and all that, but I wanted a song that mentioned the heat,? she continued, referring to the sweltering day in London when the song was written.

Aside from her duet with her sister, Kylie?s ?Kylie Christmas? 13-track album features other collaborators namely Iggy Pop and Frank Sinatra posthumously appearing on ?Santa Claus Is Coming To Town?.

Kylie also teamed up with her good friend, James Corden, in singing the 1982 hit ?Only You??originally sung by Yazoo.

?We all know James can sing and that he?s an absolute music maniac,? Kylie told news.com.au. ?He?s made no bones about the fact his ultimate dream, since he was a kid, is to be in a boy band. What?s surprising is that this isn?t a comedy moment. It?s utterly sincere, he sounds so beautiful on it I nearly cried when I heard it.?

The evening ended with Wollongong teenager Cyrus Villanueva being crowned as this year?s X-Factor Australia?s winner.
