Killer Santa is real!
Well, not the one similar to the Killer Clowns. Instead, it is about a terminally ill 5-year-old boy who died in the arms of Santa Claus about a month and a half ago. Eric Schmitt-Matzen, who plays the role of Santa every year, recently shared his heartbreaking story.
Weeks ago, Schmitt-Matzen received an urgent call from a nurse at a local Tennessee hospital. He was told that a sick boy wanted to see Santa Claus. ?He was more concerned about missing Christmas, than dying,? he told the portal WBIR.
When he arrived at the hospital, Schmitt-Matzen proceeded to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The child?s mother handed him a toy and asked him to give it to her son. Before entering the room, he told everybody that if they are going to break down, leave the room for he might also lose it.
?When I walked in, he was lying there, so weak it looked like he was ready to fall asleep. I sat down on his ?bed and asked, ?Say, what?s this I hear about you?re gonna miss Christmas? There?s no way you can miss Christmas! Why, you?re my number one elf?,? shared Schmitt-Matzen.
After a few moments, he gave the child the present which made the boy smile. The 5-year-old boy then uttered, ?They say I?m gonna die. How can I tell when I get to where I?m going?? Santa Claus responded, ?When you get there, you tell ?em you?re Santa?s number one elf, and I know they?ll let you in.?
That again made the boy smile and gave him a big hug. As he wrapped his arms around the boy, he died right there. When the boy?s mother realized what was happening, she ran into him while shouting, ?No, no, not yet!? Schmitt-Matzen handed the boy to his mother before leaving the room.
Santa then shared that he spent a week or two thinking about what happened at the hospital. Eventually, he ended up thinking of spreading Christmas cheer to everybody. It is pretty clear that a boy died in the arms of Santa Claus. But it was not because he killed the boy. Instead, it was because he was granting his last wish.
