The last Kingdom Hearts game released on Sony?s main console was Kingdom Hearts 2 on the PlayStation 2, and it was released way back 2005. That was roughly 10 years ago. This year is getting to be more interesting as more updates about the next game in the series are circulating.
We already know that as with all ?Kingdom Hearts games, Kingdom Hearts 3 will be a role playing game that will feature characters on both worlds of Disney and Final Fantasy. The story on the third installment will follow Sora?s story after the events in Nintendo 3DS? Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. It is also said that it will wrap up the ?Xehanort Saga? once and for all, but it will not be the last game in the series.
There?s still no solid basis as to how rumors say that Kingdom Hearts 3 would be out this year since this year is supposed to focus on Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix, which is scheduled to be out on December 2 2014. Shifting focus on the third numbered game in the series might take a bit of a while, so it?s safe to say that we won?t be seeing any Kingdom Hearts 3 until 2015 at least.
“We were actually developing Kingdom Hearts III and 2.5 at the same time, and it’s very difficult. There was a point where we wanted to switch our resources to Kingdom Hearts III and get that moving faster,” Yasue stated.
“We’ve been working full throttle on Kingdom Hearts III. It’s moving along. We structured our team in a way that development of 2.5 doesn’t impede Kingdom Hearts III. I’m actually every excited about Kingdom Hearts III.”
Based on reports, Kingdom Hearts 3 would feature more worlds to explore so we might be seeing more places rather than visiting Agrabah, Port Royal, Pride Lands, Twilight Town etc.
“There’s a lot of Disney content that’s new and coming out and we’re considering which ones to use, which would be good from a gameplay perspective,” Yasue continued. “This is not an announcement or anything, but personally I enjoyed watching Frozen. It was magical: the stories, the songs, the ice expressions.”
Disney has been busy releasing great films, and Yasue might just take the advantage of incorporating these into the game.
“There’s a lot of stuff we have never ever done before. There’s a lot that’s the same, but there’s a lot that’s changed. We’re moving from a totally different console to a new console. The technology has evolved; it’s very new and everyone is doing a lot of research. And look-wise, it looks amazing as well.”
It is a shame that we didn?t see any Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer or teaser on the last E3 event, but with these news and updates, we?re more than happy. This is the only teaser trailer that we?ve got for now and we can pretty much expect a bit more for whatever will come our way after 2.5 ReMix?s hype train slows down.
