Probably one of the weirdest, yet most talked about highlights of the recently-concluded MTV Video Music Awards 2015 is, nope not the Miley Vs Nicki debacle, but when Kanye West announced that he is running for President of the United States in 2020. Wife Kim Kardashian looked on, support on her face ? actually we can?t really tell, her face is always stoic.
Was the announcement real? Eh, we doubt it. But there were touching moments during his acceptance speech, that made us think, ?hey, maybe Kanye is a good guy.? The rapper was definitely gracious when he accepted his award from Taylor Swift, knowing their rather awkward history from way back 2008, and the actor saying he probably wouldn?t have put Taylor in such a humiliation if he had a daughter back then.
According to Time, West announced: “I don’t know what I finna lose after this. It don’t matter, though; It’s not about me. It’s about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth,” West said. “And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in some to run for president.”
Is this a serious pledge? Here?s what we know: Kim Kardashian will probably work as the best First Lady to his presidential bid. Here?s why:
Kim Kardashian VMA: She has style like Michelle
Michelle Obama?s sense of style is something that people has admired about the first lady, and should Kim become one someday, then there?s no problem when it comes to her style factor. In the recent VMAs, Kim donned a Balmain military-style maxi to perfection ? pregnant belly and all!
She has social media clout
Come on. We don?t even have to explain this. If social media is a big factor to reach out to voters in the future, then Kim?s 34.9 MILLION followers is definitely some heavy machinery.
She?s a great mom
Yeah we might see more of her nakedness more than we want to, but I think many of you would agree that she?s a pretty great mom to North and soon to be baby ? something that might rub right among conservatives.
She actually cares about politics
Well, sort of. In an article which came out in CNN last month, Kim and Kanye attended a fundraiser for Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton. Kardashian tweeted a selfie that she and West took with Clinton, along with an endorsement:
“I got my selfie!!! I really loved hearing her speak & hearing her goals for our country! #HillaryForPresident.”
Her tweet has been shared more than 10,000 times.
On the other hand, the Democratic party seem to be supporting West?s bid to rule the US: “Last night @kanyewest declared his candidacy for president in 2020. Welcome to the race, Mr. West. Glad to have you.”
We?re not sure how to react to that.
