Kendrick Lamar’s new album DAMN has just gone platinum after dominating the music chart for weeks and J.Cole’s 4 Your Eyez Only world tour is about to kick off following his latest documentary’s debut on HBO. The two are clearly owning 2017 and for sure they still have a lot up their sleeves, but is the long-rumored Kendrick Lamar J Cole album collab release one of them?
Kendrick Lamar J Cole Album Collab
It’s been years since reports of a joint project surfaced. Sure, there have been clues here and there that suggest it is underway but its lack of direct updates from the rappers themselves has many of us thinking that everything may have just been a mere blueprint all this time. But let us not give up yet. Recently, there’s been an indication that the collab could still happen and it’s through DJ Khaled.
As we all know, he has just started dropping singles for his 10th studio album Grateful this year featuring guest vocals from many high-profile artists. The album’s lead single Shining which was released on February 14 had Beyonce and Jay Z while his latest, I’m The One, featured Canadian singer Justin Bieber, and American rappers Quavo, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne. That said, we can assume that there will be more big names to come once the full album is released.
BET now reports it could bring Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole together. That’s not all, though because Drake could be in it too.
Three’s A Charm
On a now-deleted post captured by DJ Akademiks, a fan commented on Khaled’s recently released I’m the One track “How do you follow that up?” Lead Way Music seemed to think that a collaboration between Drizzy, K.Dot, and Cole would do the trick– which the Hotline Bling hitmaker himself then liked. Khaled followed up on the comment about the dream lineup, saying: “I HAVE MORE! Be ready! #Grateful! It’s coming!”
Take a look at drizzylikes’ screengrab of the posting below.
Lamar and Drake, two of hip-hop’s reigning superstars, have been in a feud for a while now. There speculations that the beef could be finally over after Drake congratulated K.Dot on his outstanding album sales. This makes the collab all the more possible. Plus, Cole, Drake, and Lamar already appeared on Khaled’s 2016 album Major Key, so all three artists on one project is not a far-fetched idea at all, don’t you think?
As usual, we can only keep our fingers crossed. We’ll let you know here at The Bitbag, though, once new information becomes available. In the meantime, share your thoughts about the news below. Do you think the Kendrick Lamar J Cole album collab release will still happen?
