JoJo?s Bizarre Adventure joins the roster of new anime to run on Toonami. Adult Swim?s Vice President and Creative Director On-Air, Jason DeMarco confirmed on July 21 via Twitter that the television anime series will premier on Toonami?s block beginning October.
JoJo?s Bizarre Adventure joins Hunter X Hunter (2011), Dimension W and One-Punch Man to Toonami?s growing lineup.
The series is a manga adaptation, which is a brainchild of Hirohiko Araki. Like Hunter X Hunter, JBA was also published in Shueisha?s Weekly Shonen Jump in 1987, but has since moved to Ultra Jump long after.
It tells the story of the a member of the Joestar family ?who is in possession of supernatural abilities. The mission is to save the world from villains by collaborating with newly found friends who have the same supernatural abilities.
The first six parts include ?Phantom Blood,? ?Battle Tendency,? ?Stardust Crusaders,? ?Diamond is Unbreakable,? ?Vento Aureo,? and ?Stone Ocean.? All these six parts happen on the same dimension.
On the other hand, the last two, ?Steel Ball Run? and ?JoJolion,? which are currently in the process of publication, occurs in a different timeline.
With its popularity, the show has transcended to light novels, video games, action figures, jewellery line, and also several anime television series.
Release to include English dub
As announced by Viz Media at the Anime Expo a few weeks ago, they will release Phantom Blood Part 1 of the television anime series on Blu-ray Disc. Good news for non-Japanese speakers, the release will include an English dub.
Furthermore, according to Viz Media, JoJo?s Bizarre Adventures Part 1, 2, and 3 will be streamed as well as the ongoing Part 4 anime series.
However, this is not the first time that JBA dubbed in English was released. Still holding the DVD rights to the series, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released English-dubbed Part 1 and Part 2 on DVD last September.
