The Keanu Reeves action sequel John Wick: Chapter Two will be released on February 10, 2017. It is certainly disappointing that the sequel is not opening on its original release date of November 23, 2016. However, the recent Deadpool success may be the reason that Lionsgate has changed the release date of the film.
Reeves will once again play the lead role while Common takes on the role of the main villain who is the head of security for a female crime lord in the sequel that is set partially in Rome.
The movie is set to begin shooting this week. The original John Wick was co-directed by Chad Stahelski and David Leitch whereas the sequel will be directed by Stahelski alone. Basil Iwanyk will be producing this action franchise.
In the first John Wick, Reeves played the character of a deadly hitman who had an encounter with gangsters who broke into his home, beat him up and killed his dog that his wife left him before she died.
Reeves told Collider ?To me, there?s John Wick and then there?s John. You know, John is the married guy whose wife just died, and that?s five years of his life. Then there?s John Wick, who?s the mythical assassin. In this, John Wick?s past comes and infiltrates John?s life and John Wick, in a way, has to fight for John.?
