Jessica Jones Season 2 is a much anticipated Netflix original. If you have not known what the show is about, here?s a quick briefer. Jessica Jones is a Marvel Cinematic Universe adaptation of a character of the same name. In the Netflix version, Jessica Jones is trying to rebuild her life after a tragic end to her superhero career. She now works as a private investigator whose cases involve individuals in New York City with special abilities.

Jessica Jones Season 1 also featured a top Marvel villain. You can read about it here–there are some spoilers though if you have not seen the show.

As pointed out by Christian Times, Jessica Jones is regarded to be ?one of the most forward-thinking feminist shows.? The show receives positive critical remarks about how it tackles real-life issues like PTSD, rape, sexual and psychological abuse. It surely has a dark tone to it but there?s things that Marvel couldn?t really show–somewhat to the surprise of many.

The show, according to Collider, has ?the most intense aggressive sex scenes on television.? But this is done though without actual nudity. There will be some sex to a degree, as said by executive producer and creator Melissa Rosenberg, but there will be no nudity involved. Rosenberg praised Krysten Ritter?s (playing Jessica Jones) acting that she can sell the scenes by creating emotions. This probably is key when one needs to film a believable sex scene without really resorting to nudity. Rosenberg even quipped about Ritter?s acting via CinemaBlend. She revealed Ritter?s face could just spell the ?f-word? fully without her having to say it. ?Dropping F-bombs is not allowed for the show to do too.

Marvel?s brand has a generally PG-13 audience and Marvel wishes to stick to that. But luckily for Rosenberg, Netflix makes her go PG-16 to give the show a darker look than that of Marvel?s big screen ventures. With Netflix, the show can create a whole new setting and theme but without roaming far past Marvel?s guidelines. It?s just the acting department that must sell the darker scenes with some restrictions. Looking at Ritter?s Jessica Jones portrayal in the initial season, it looks like they got this covered.
