As Space Jam 2 starring LeBron James, is yet to be released, Jeremy Lin goes for a 3-pointer with his Space Jam 3 parody. Teaming up with YouTube star Ryan Higa, Lin fills the shoes of Michael Jordan as the main basketball star in this viral Space Jam parody. The spoof is made even more hilarious with the participation of Anime giants, Naruto, Sailor Moon, Yugi of Yu-Gi-Oh, and Goku of Dragon Ball Z.
Asian version of Space Jam
It begins strangely with Lin announcing in a presscon that he is quitting basketball and would devote his life to games and anime. He then proceeds to follow his heart, but was abducted through the computer by the 4 animes who were disappointed to see Lin, because he was Asian just like them. They did not even think that he was a real basketball player!
Lin, who has openly discussed the challenge of being an Asian player in the NBA, doesn?t escape this stereotyping in the sketch, as later on in the video, the villains, Anime All Stars, try to convince their boss that Lin is not a threat. ?He?s not even MJ or LeBron,? while another pipes in ?He looks like one of us. Except he?s got weird hair.?
Lin has made a previous video before about fitting in the NBA. He recruited Stephen and Riley Curry, Wesley Johnson, Landry Fields, Jerome Jordan, DeAndre Jordan, Dwight Howard and Tyson Chandler to show him the finer points of fashion, greeting, handshakes, dancing, among others, in the NBA way.
He also made a video of pranking gym goers, including one of ?Taiwan?s National Treasures?, a female, who is a London Olympic medalist. Taiwanese pop star Vanness Wu joined him in this video as they pretended to be Adidas employees, and ?training? gym goers all around.
