Racing Star Jenson Button and his wife Jessica Michibata were reportedly gassed inside their French Villa and then robbed of an astonishing $300,000 worth of belongings, according to a report from Daily Mail.

The Formula One Racer with his wife was reportedly staying at their rented St. Tropez home in France when their belongings were taken which includes a $250,000 engagement ring. “Two men broke into the property whilst they all slept and stole a number of items of jewellery including, most upsettingly, Jessica’s engagement ring,” Button?s spokesperson said in a report from ABC News.

The robbers apparently broke into the couple?s rented villa and surprisingly strolled around the couple?s bed. Including the people who were gassed and also believed to be unconscious inside the house were three friends of the pair, shared by Daily Mail. Button and his wife only then realized that the villa had been stripped of some of their belongings along with the engagement ring when they woke up in the morning, Daily Mail added.

French Police presumed that the burglars planned and watched the mansion for days before carrying out their scheme. “The police have indicated that this has become a growing problem in the region with perpetrators going so far as to gas their proposed victims through the air conditioning units before breaking in,? Button?s spokesperson quoted, according to ABC News. “Whilst unharmed, everyone involved is unsurprisingly shaken by the events,? he added.

Formula One Racer Jenson Button ranked as the third richest British sports star in Sunday Times Sport Rich List, reported Daily Mail. He was also the Formula 1 Champion in 2009 and currently signed to McLaren racing.
