Jared Leto's Joker

The Joker has been on the top list of the most famous comic book villains of all time. Actors who had played The Joker, whether in movie adaptations or cartoons, knows fully how much work they have to put in to pull off the character. Jared Leto as Joker was creative and unique. However, fans can?t help but compare him to Mark Hamill and Heath Ledger.

When Suicide Squad came out, fans (or not fans anymore) took to social media to express their frustrations about the movie and Jared Leto?s portrayal of the Joker. In a BBC Radio 1 interview Leto said, ?I think that I brought so much to the table in every scene, it was probably more about filtering all of the insanity. I wanted to give a lot of options, and I think there?s probably enough footage in this film for a Joker movie.?

Fans are mainly disappointed probably because the trailer showed so much of the Joker and the actual movie gave us an equal amount of Joker screen time ? 15 minutes tops!

But none of us are actually qualified to comment on Jared Leto?s Joker. If there was such a person, it would have to be Mark Hamill. Hamill has been the voice of Joker for over 20 years in the DC Animated Universe. CinemaBlend describes Joker as a psychotic freak who smiles with an amusing quip, whenever he?s hurting somebody. However, as for Leto, many believed he went overboard with his method approach.

Mark Hamill is reported to have commented on Jared Leto?s Joker. Hamill believes there?s always room for redefining the crazy villain as long as Joker?s essence remains intact. Such as his spirits and his basic characteristics. ?Everyone brings a different spin to the character … I don?t think there?s a definitive version of the Joker and I don?t think there can be. It?s like Hamlet, really. It?ll be constantly redefined.” said Hamill in an interview with Polygon.

Hamill perhaps meant keeping the clown-ish white skin, green hair, and the joy Joker gets from others pain and suffering. He also adds, ?If you don?t approve of Zack Snyder?s vision then you?re kind of stuck because he?s in the driver?s seat.?
