Now You See Me 2 just hit theatres with most of the cast of the first installment reprising their roles save for Isla Fisher. Where has the actress gone off to? Did she just play an actual ?Now you see me? game on us? Well, here?s why the actress did not reprise her role in the franchise.
The reason is simple, folks. Fisher left the second installment because she was pregnant when production ensued in late 2014. The 40-year-old actress and husband Sacha Baron Cohen were wed in March 2010 in Paris and was expecting their third child at the time. They are now parents to daughters Olive, 8, and Elula, 4, and son, Montgomery, 1.
After Fisher?s departure from the magician franchise, Now You See Me 2 then welcomed two new high-profile cast members, Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex, Mean Girls) and the ?boy who lived? himself, Harry Potter?s Daniel Radcliffe.
Caplan essentially replaced Fisher in the movie who was part of the four horsemen in the first film, The Hollywood Reporter (THR) writes. Radcliffe, on the other hand, plays a villain, and surprisingly does not do much magic. Caplan was nervous at first to be in a film where she?s a new actor being added to the mix. She told THR, ?I think it?s always a bit daunting when you?re coming into something where they?re already a club and they really liked each other?I knew that much.? She continued, ?So I was hoping that I would get to fit in seamlessly and luckily I did and it ended up being one of the most fun experiences I?ve ever had.?
And not only that? [Warning: Mild spoilers for the movie ahead]? she is even the ?best part? of the second film, as Vanity Fair writes. Caplan did not directly replace Fisher?s Henley Reeves but plays an entirely new character called Lula. Director Jon Chu told the publication, ?We wrote the character with Lizzy in mind, before we even knew she was available? I was a huge fan of hers from ?Party Down? and ?Mean Girls.? That kind of energy?and Ed [Solomon] wrote it in brilliantly?this woman who loves bloody gross-out guts magic.?
That?s just exciting to hear from the director?bloody magic awesomeness courtesy of Lizzy Caplan?what more can you ask for, right?
Caplan joins the original all-star cast which includes Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Mark Ruffalo.
