Apple is expected to hold a big spring event this year. While the company has yet to confirm exactly when it is and what it would showcase, a new report claims it’s happening on April 4 and its main agenda is allegedly the launch of its new batch of tablets.
Apple World Today first reported the claim based on an availability date given by the company’s website. The online store apparently showed a shipping time of two to three weeks for the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro models at the time of its writing. This indicates that Apple doesn’t have any of them in stock for shipping when the site checked.
It’s worth noting that the Cupertino-based tech giant tends to clear out its inventory in preparation for the release of a new model. Thus, the lack of available iPad Pros could be a sign that its successor is on its way, especially since the new model is expected this spring.
Retailers have also started selling the existing models with up to $150 discount –another indicator that it’s making room for the upcoming models. Those clearance sales run until April 1, just three days prior to the iPad’s cited availability date.
iPad Mini 5, iPad Pro 2 Release Date – Here’s the Truth!
That said, it is possible that Apple is about to roll out the next generation of its tablets. The problem, however, is that the April 4 release date will likely not materialize. The in-store availability is not really a reliable indicator of a specific release date or an Apple event. Mac Rumors notes that the pickup date is “a rolling target” and the April 5 date shown just one day later proves this.
Also, it’s pretty rare for the company to make products available on the same day it announces them, so it seems unlikely for the next generation iPads to instantly become available for purchase on its actual launch date. There is still a chance that the iPad maker will hold the event on April 4, though, considering many of its past events took place on a Tuesday. However, that would be purely coincidental, rather than hinted by the in-store pickup date.
Whatever the case is, fans are expecting to see three new iPad models soon. This includes a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro with an edge-to-edge display and upgraded versions of the 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
A new iPhone SE and red iPhone 7 are reportedly in the wildcard as well, although they’re both debatable and questionable at this point. If we’re lucky, we could also see the new iPad Mini and new bands for the Apple Watch which are far more likely than the other two.
