The Apple iPad Pro debuted back in September 2015 but tech enthusiasts are already hyping up for the release of the second generation tablet series. Though Apple?s future tablet plans remain unknown, tipsters already have indicated of the Cupertino giant releasing the next iPad, believed to be the iPad Pro 2.
Here?s all the latest rumors and specification lineup about the iPad Pro 2:
iPad Pro 2 release date
Apple is officially expected to launch the iPad Pro 2 in March 2017, reports Trusted Reviews. Industry sources revealed that supply chains are gearing up to deliver component for the product release either in the first or the second quarter of the upcoming year.
In fact, Digitimes? sources ?said Apple will ship two million iPad Pro 2 units in the first quarter of 2017. They are expected to rise between five and six million units throughout the entire year. Unfortunately, none of this is confirmed as of yet. Other sources suggest that the iPad Pro 2 will be released along with the iPhone 8 in September.
iPad Pro 2 Design
Reliable tipster Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst with KGI Securities, was quoted in various reports as saying that shipments of Apple’s iPads are arriving in three models. In addition to the 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch models, a 10.5-inch version is believed to be added to the 2017 iPad Pro 2 lineup.
Rumour also has it that the new iPad Pro 2 will ditch the Home button. The Japanese site Macotakara reported that the new iPad will be almost bezel-free. Although it will still feature a bezel at the top for FaceTime camera, the rest of the device will be bezel-less.
Reports indicate that the new iPad Pro 2 might be launched with an OLED display panel. Current Apple tablets use the regular IPS LCD display. With OLED displays, each pixel emits its own light, eliminating the need for a backlight. This helps reduce power consumption, and thus provide the users with excellent device performance.
However, KGI?s Ming-Chi Kuo had a different take for the OLED update. Apple is expected to bring “revolutionary” changes such as AMOLED panels to its 2018 iPad lineup. This would mean that the 2017 iPad Pro 2 is expected to ship with the regular LCD displays.
Tipsters are also expecting a significant performance upgrade for the second-gen iPad Pro. Specifically, Digitimes reckons that Apple will introduce a new A10X chip that builds on the existing A10 processor used in the iPhone 7. Also high on expectations is higher RAM configurations. Rival Microsoft?Surface Pro 4 offers?customizations to up to 16GB of RAM.
In addition, Apple has enlisted chipmaker TSMC to begin producing 10nm A11 chips for the iPhone 8. Chances are that the iPad Pro 2 might feature a 10nm chip should they release both devices together.
However, as usual, all of these rumors need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Nothing is set in stone so far so stay tuned here for regular updates on the iPad Pro 2 and other Apple devices.
