More rumors about the release date of the iPad Air 3 have emerged as old units of the Apple tablet are put on sale for a limited time only.
According to Christian Today, the iPad Air 2 is being sold in select avenues at a discounted price of $250. A 128GB model with Retina display originally priced at $699.99 is currently available on eBay for just $449.99. Most of these reportedly even come with a one-year warranty.
The sale of iPad Air 3 predecessors have led some people to speculate that older models are being disposed in preparation for the release date of the device?s newest version. This is similar to how many are predicting that the MacBook Pro 2016 will be arriving soon due to Apple pulling out legacy non-Retina MacBook Pro units in stores. The removal is believed to be a preliminary move before the company will phase out the old versions completely.
As for the iPad Air 3, recent reports have stated that its release date has been moved from September 2016 launch to early 2017. This is because Apple did not make any announcements about the said product during the recently concluded Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) earlier this month. Insiders then speculated that details on the iPad Air 3 could be announced at Apple?s next major event, which will be all the way in March 2017.
The release date of the iPad Air 3 were even rumored as early as October 2015. However, the same sources also claimed that the model would no longer carry the product?s ?Air? variant due to Apple?s direction to ?trim down and simplify its iPad lineup.?
The rumored direction of Apple to streamline their product portfolio is reportedly due to the recent sales decline in the entire tablet industry. However, the Cupertino-based tech giant is reportedly still pushing to include the latest specs in its tablet products.
