While Apple?s Worldwide Developers Conference has come and gone hackers haven?t made available any new jailbreak tools for the latest iOS 9.3.2 operating system for iPhones and iPads.

Apple in meantime is already planning to roll out to the public its next in line iOS 10 which was showcased on its 13th June event. iOS 10 beta 1 download is now available for the developers so that they can start testing the firmware and can begin resolving the bugs and issues in it before the public launch.

In fact, iOS 10 has brought a silver lining to the disappointed jailbreaking community as many expect to see online hacking groups to create appropriate JB tools for the upcoming update. A well known hacker within the jailbreaking community who goes by the name iH8sn0w seems to have already cracked the security and succeeded in jailbreaking iOS 10. He demonstrated the untethered iOS 10 jailbreak in a YouTube video showing Cydia running on his iPhone 5.

So despite a lot of people talking about that the end of jailbreaking era is here as Apple continues to frequently release beta updates, there is still hope for jailbreak tools for iOS 10.

Though iH8sn0w will not likely release his exploits in a jailbreak tools, others hacker groups like Pangu and TaiG are more likely to actively pursue jailbreaking for iOS 10.

Since iOS 10 was just released and there are also talks about Apple first updating the iPhones and iPads to iOS 9.3.3, it will still be a lot of time before we finally get to see a successful jailbreak tool. But when it does iOS 10 jailbreak will certainly be limited to the newer devices that would support the latest operating system. Mobipicker.com has listed the few of Apple?s mobile devices that could see iOS 10 update and be compatible for a jb tool:

  • iPhone 5 and higher (iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s)
  • iPhone 6, iPhone 6Plus, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPhone 7 (soon to be lauched)
  • iPad Pro (9.7inch and 12.9 inch)
  • iPad 4 and later (iPad Air, iPad Air 2)
  • iPad Mini 2 and later (iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, iPad Mini 4)
  • iPod Touch 6th gen

However, as Mobipicker.com has pointed iOS 10 jailbreak done by iH8sn0w is on the iPhone 5 which is a 32-bit, there is still more to done before a fully tethered JB tool could be a reality. It remains to be seen whether or not the iOS 10 jailbreak is possible on the newer 64-bit iOS devices. Also with Apple likely to release more betas to fix bugs and security issues before launching the iOS 10 it can never be assured that a similar jailbreak would be possible later on.
