Following Luca Todeso’s iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak tool, Apple iPhone and iPad users are waiting for iOS 10.2 Yalu jailbreak. Though rumors suggest iOS 10.2 Yalu is on the horizon for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus 64-bit devices, Todesco says otherwise.
The official word from the prolific Italian hacker on the state of iOS 10.2 jailbreak is that no tool is planned for devices running iOS 10.2. Though this declaration seemed pretty much definite, he further advised all device owners to avoid iOS 10.2.1 update. He asked users to make sure that they have saved iOS 10.2 firmware in case a jailbreak did drop for the firmware.
Todesco also let the jailbreak community know that “there is a pretty serious bug in all Yalu betas.” He hinted that he would like to fix the issues before adding support for iPhone 5 or iPhone 6. He is not even considering any iOS 10.2 support yet, as he claimed this isn’t on the agenda unless “extraordinary stuff happens.”
iOS 10.2 Yalu For Older iPhones
Todesco, however, did indicate plans for iOS 10.2 Yalu jailbreak for older iPhones. Possibly 64-bit devices including iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone SE will get the jailbreak for iOS 10.2 firmware.
“My fix for the issues in the 10.1 jailbreak will be to add support to 10.2. It will however not work on iPhone 7 on 10.2, just 10 and 10.1,” Todesco tweeted.
Todesco had announced through Twitter that the Yalu iOS 10 jailbreak is already working on iPhones with TSMC chips. This includes iPhone Special Edition and iPhone 6S.
In his tweet, he said: “Since people seem to not know yet: a fix for TSMC has been posted for both SE and 6s. So support should now be complete for those devices.”
iOS 10.2 Pangu JB Tool
On the other hand, Apple users are waiting for iOS 10.2 jailbreak from Chinese hacking team Pangu. Repeated reports have said Team Pangu is on the verge of releasing a Jailbreak but is waiting for the right time. However, Apple is rolling out iOS 10.3 update soon and the infamous hacker group has not updated anything so far.
This could mean the team has gone silent as Todesco is offering a viable alternative. Still Yalu X jailbreak is plagued with several issues. The iOS 10.1.1 JB tool is semi-tethered for one. This means, users need to reinstall it every time the system reboots. The hacker has also warned people against several bugs that cause significant problems.
