Inside, an indie game from the developers of the critically acclaimed Limbo, is better than Overwatch. That?s not arrogance or a biased statement against multiplayer shooters; that is an absolute fact, at least as far as critical scores go. In fact, Inside is not just better than Overwatch; it is the third highest-rated game in Xbox One history.
According to Game Espresso, the indie platformer is ranked just below Metal Gear Solid 5 and Grand Theft Auto 5. Considering the competition the indie platformer was up against, it seems like third place isn?t that bad, as it joins an elite group of games that are now a must-own for the console.
While it?s the third highest-rated game for the Xbox One, it also takes the place of Ori and the Blind Forest as the highest-rated Xbox One exclusive. That is a big deal for an indie game and might make Playdead one of the best developers today.
This means that Inside is supposedly better than The Witcher 3, Overwatch and Halo 5, which is one heck of an accomplishment. Considering that this is only the second game that indie studio Playdead developed shows just how talented the studio is at creating atmospheric and moody games.
Currently, Inside is an Xbox One exclusive, though it is also playable on a PC with Windows 10. Considering how Limbo was eventually released on the PS4, it would not be a huge surprise to see this game come to Sony?s current-gen console in the near future. Until then, Xbox One owners can brag about having this game on their current-gen console.
Gameplay-wise, Inside isn?t that different from Limbo. It?s a platformer where players have to do environmental puzzles while also surviving environments with tough enemies and hazards. The main difference is that Inside follows a young boy who is experimented on by a mysterious evil force. Unlike Limbo, Inside takes place in a number of environments like forests, factories and more.
Inside is now available on the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Fans might be able to get a PS4 version in the near future, but until then, it?s an Xbox exclusive.
