The Injustice 2 story made has had fans buzzing ever since the first trailer hit the Internet months ago. Many felt that the story could have more depth and emotion than most fighting games, including the first game. One thing is certain though; there will be alternate paths in the game’s story, increasing replayability and encouraging multiple playthroughs.
Players found this out when True Achievements leaked the game’s trophies, showing that one can be earned by finishing story mode. It states “complete story mode after doing all alternate paths,” so completionists that want the trophies/achievements should do it. At the least, fans will get a fun experience with the possibility of multiple endings to look forward to.
The Best Story Mode?
With multiple choices to go through and multiple characters to use, the Injustice 2 story mode could be something special. Fans have already been impressed with the stories that come from the game’s tie-in comics, so they might have expectations. NetherRealms might just meet them, since they’re clearly working hard to make this fighting game the ultimate DC experience.
To the developer’s credit, fans did praise the story mode of Mortal Kombat 2011 and it’s sequel Mortal Kombat X. Even the first Injustice had a decent story mode, though the experience did feel a bit cheap for some. Though it featured the warring factions of Batman and Superman, players used the “real” Justice League from an alternate dimension.
Other Trophy/Achievement Surprises
Aside from alternate paths in the Injustice 2 story mode, the aforementioned website also confirmed the appearance of The Joker. The popular Batman villain has been rumored for sometime, but these achievements essentially spoil his big debut for the sequel. Players will have to defeat him as Harley Quinn and Batman in separate fights for separate trophies/achievements.
Many fans were hoping he would be in the game, so they will be pleased to hear that he’s returned. How the Joker will be coming back should be interesting, since Superman shoved his hand through the villain’s chest. No one knows how he will be coming back, but it should be fun to see the game explain it.
Injustice 2 is slated for a May 16 release, so the game is only a few weeks away before release. Those that pre-order the game will get Darkseid as a bonus, regardless of the version they choose to get. It will be available for the PS4 and Xbox One.
