As fans wait for an Injustice 2 review, there seems to have been enough early impressions to ensure a recommendation. The game is a month away from its official release on PS4 and Xbox One, so excitement is really high. Judging from the various hands-on impressions seen, it looks like the game will be a quality fighter when it’s released.
Newsarama actually posted a “review” recently, though it ended up being about their impressions with the pre-release build. This means that they were able to play the story mode’s first chapter, which lets players switch between specific characters. Interestingly, the mobile game was also given a “review,” so fans are able to see their thoughts on both versions.
In the Injustice 2 review, we get to see details on the game’s story mode and gear system, io9 covered. Nothing particularly new was pointed out, though it’s worth noting that some of the game’s gear is comic book-based. This should be a fun feature for the game’s single-player mode, since most multiplayer fans will likely disable the system.
Another thing worth noting is that Newsarama gave the game a 7 out of 10, which is a passable grade. Some might not like the score, since most great games get an 8, 9 or even 10 out of 10. Then again, Newsarama is more focused on comic books than gaming, so gamers might want to wait for a better source.
Fighting Game Gold?
While the grade from Newsarama is interesting, others fans will probably wait for a more detailed Injustice 2 review. There are still a number of characters that haven’t been revealed, one of which is probably Joker for obvious reasons. He was in the roster leak that has proven to be accurate, so expect him to make it to the game somehow.
Fighting game enthusiasts have probably made their minds up already with regards to getting the game. It pretty much depends on liking DC Comics and enjoying the first Injustice game, which a number of fans did. This is an easier decision for those getting the mobile version of it, since it will be a free download.
Injustice 2 is slated for a May 16 release for PS4 and Xbox One, with reviews coming out before. The mobile game will also be coming out sometime before the console version, which should be fun. Anyone who pre-orders the console version will get Darkseid as a bonus fighter.
