Injustice 2 is having another character reveal soon and it seems like we will be seeing The Joker. He’s Batman’s most popular villain and many fans are really hoping to see Mistah J return to the game. Given how accurate the leaked roster has been, it would be quite surprising for it to be anyone else.

The aforementioned leak has correctly guessed appearances by Black Adam, Swamp Thing and Cheetah of all people, so it’s accurate. Unless NetherRealms plans on surprising fans with a DC character no one expected, Joker is the likely candidate for the reveal on April 28. This isn’t a bad thing at all, though one could argue that the game already has too many Batman villains.

Let’s Put a Smile on That Face

One reason fans aren’t expecting to see Joker in Injustice 2 is due to his death in the first game. In the beginning of Injustice – which was more detailed in the comics – Superman put his arm through Joker’s heart. How he will be returning to the game remains a mystery, though a Green Arrow from an alternate Earth has made his way to the sequel.

Joker returning could also add some drama to Harley Quinn, who has sided with Batman, though remains a wild card. She has seemingly moved on from her former abusive lover, even returning The Joker from the “regular” universe in the first game. Either way, his inclusion will be a fun one and should lead to some interesting dark humor.

Why So Serious?

Despite being a game about superheroes, Injustice 2 has been built as a fairly dark title in terms of story. This is in spite of the fact that one of the game’s villains is a talking gorilla with mind powers. If The Joker is added to the game, he could add some levity to the story, though some fans have said that the over the top finishers do that already.

Expect Joker to have new moves, whilst also keeping a few of his older moves like the other returning characters. He was one of the most fun characters to use in the original, thanks to his gag-themed set of moves.

Earlier this month, Injustice 2 director Ed Boon earlier teased The Joker’s inclusion by posting a short clip of Tara Strong and Mark Hamill doing their Harley Quinn and The Joker voices. If he does end up appearing, he could continue being one of the most fun characters in the game.

Injustice 2 is slated for a May 16 release on the PS4 and Xbox One. Pre-ordering the game will grant players access to Darkseid.
