Injustice 2 has changed the landscape for fighting games, thanks to the new gear system that was implemented. Aside from the RPG-like stat boosts, some of them can also give characters new abilities for the game’s various battles. These abilities can be unlocked by progressing through the game’s Multiverse mode or even random battles online or offline.
One of the more commonly known examples is the Staff of Grayson, which gives Robin a new fighting style. This form is essentially his Nightwing character from the Story mode, minus the impressive new costume made for him. While all of the special abilities aren’t known yet, here are some of the ones fans have discovered thus far.
Fans of Injustice 2 have posted some of they discovered on Reddit, providing some useful insight for the game. The Flash has a special parry, as well as his long-range lightning bolt that we’ve seen from the CW show. Aquaman also has a great gear ability, being able to meter burn his water shield into a tidal wave.
Most of the abilities are meter burns, which isn’t a bad thing since it keeps the game fair and balanced. Some of them are a little cheap though, like Green Arrow getting a teleporting smoke-arrow as a new gear ability. Then again, it’s not like he is one of the most powerful characters in the game, but it’s worth noting.
Grind for Gears
Since there is no official list as of this writing, fans will have to grind for gears in Injustice 2. The game has plenty of Destiny-esque loot to get for each character, including the ones that will be DLC. It ensures replayability for those that like to play the game by themselves, though multiplayer will always be an option.
Grinding might not sound too fun, but the amount of content in the game should prove that isn’t the case. Even story mode rewards players with some loot and shaders for customizing a fan’s favorite character after completing several chapters. Despite the amount of grinding needed to get what is wanted, it’s a very giving game at it’s center.
Injustice 2 is available now for the PS4 and Xbox One, along with the former pre-order exclusive character Darkseid. Gamers that want all of the DLC can do so via upgrading to the Ultimate Pack. Smartphone and tablet gamers also have the mobile version to enjoy.
