Now that Red Hood is available for download in some countries, Sub-Zero is the next Injustice 2 DLC character. The Mortal Kombat mainstay was shown off during E3, and will be available next month for Fighter Pack 1 buyers. Starfire doesn’t have a release window yet, but at this rate it seems like she will be available in August.

Fans can check out some Sub-Zero gameplay via the official Injustice YouTube channel, which shows off his moves and finisher. Mortal Kombat X fans might get disappointed at the lack of outrageous gory attacks, but it is a T-rated game. Despite this, the character’s move-set is fairly brutal and should put a smile on the faces of Mortal Kombat fans.

A Cool Character

Using a nice mix of ice swords, hammers and sculptures, Sub-Zero could be a fairly interesting Injustice 2 DLC character. The character is mostly adept at close combat, though he does have a few long-range moves here and there. He doesn’t play too much like fellow ice user Captain Cold, though they have some similar techniques in their arsenal.

Sub-Zero is the first Mortal Kombat character for the game, with Raiden looking to be the second one. Certain fans are skeptical about the MK characters, but if they play well and look cool, no one will mind much. As long as there are more DC characters down the line, comic book fans should be pleased with the DLC.

Cooler Heads

Like Red Hood before him, no official release date was given for Sub-Zero, though we know he’s July-bound. Expect an event focusing on the character and a ton of gear, which should look cool when equipped by players. It will be interesting to see if the character has a storyline reason for being here, though DLC isn’t canon.

Before Sub-Zero’s announcement as Injustice 2 DLC, the first MK character to appear in the series was his rival Scorpion. One of the mystery DLC silhouettes looks a bit like Scorpion, so there’s a good chance that he will be DLC. We will have to wait for a confirmation from NetherRealm Studios, so Scorpion’s possible appearance is pure speculation for now.

Injustice 2 is available now on the PS4 and Xbox One, with the DLC packs available for advanced buying. Red Hood is already available in some countries, while Darkseid can be bought by those that didn’t pre-order the game. Starfire should be the next DLC character.
