Injustice 2 is already shaping up to be a great fighting game, expanding on what made the first game good while also adding some interesting new features and characters. Like the first game and the recently released Mortal Kombat X, fans can expect the Injustice 2 DLC from NetherRealms as a way to extend the life of the fighting game.
During an interview with Game Informer, NetherRealms game director Ed Boon discussed a possible DLC for next year?s superhero fighting game. Similar to Mortal Kombat X before it, Boon has teased special guest characters that could be released as DLC sometime after the game comes out.
Given how Mortal Kombat X has featured characters like Jason Vorhees and the Predator, it wouldn?t be a huge surprise to see a guest character in Injustice 2. Even the first Injustice game featured Scorpion from Mortal Kombat as a guest character, so any character under the Warner Bros. banner is possible.
Boon also teased possible costumes based from the recent Batman v Superman film, specifically mentioning the outfit Wonder Woman wore for the movie. Fans can also expect movie outfits for Batman and Superman, since the film is named after them.
It will be interesting to see if Flash and Supergirl get costumes based on their hit TV shows. Green Arrow got an outfit based on Arrow in the first Injustice game, so it?s not an impossible move to expect.
Fans can also expect to see DC Rebirth costumes in the game, either as DLC or unlockable rewards. The first Injustice game has a ton of costumes from the New 52 and alternate universe storylines, so it only makes sense for the sequel to include costumes from the new direction that DC Comics is heading toward.
With a new focus on upgrading characters with loot and armor, it will be interesting to see if the Injustice 2 DLC reflects that minor change. Here?s hoping that fans don?t have to pay to win for some of the best armor pieces in the game, since it would be unfair for those who simply want to play the game and earn loot through fighting. Injustice 2 is scheduled for a 2017 release on PS4 and Xbox One.
