Fans that want to know the background stories for the Injustice 2 DLC characters are going to be very happy. WB Games have released biographies for the characters, so fans can know how they fit into the universe’s canon. This will likely be explored more in the comic than the game however, which no one will complain about.

In the official website of the game, the developers have updated the roster by adding the 3 DLC profiles. Some of the details revealed are fairly interesting, especially when one considers how they will react to Batman or Superman. Red Hood in particular is of great interest, since he may have already appeared in the well-received comic book tie-in.

Under the Red Hood

Red Hood is arguably the most anticipated Injustice 2 DLC fighter, given Jason Todd’s complex history with the fans. NetherRealms took a page from the fantastic animated film Under the Red Hood by making his resurrection via Lazarus Pit. Only time will tell if he’s the homicidal Batman in the tie-in comics, but it would be a fitting reveal.

Jason Todd’s appearance could also cause some fairly interesting drama, since Nightwing was accidentally killed by Damian Wayne aka Robin. We probably won’t see this in the game, but it would make the tie-in comics more interesting and emotional. Starfire’s reaction would also be good to see, given her well-known romance with Nightwing in the Teen Titans comics.

Sub-Zero Interest

The least interesting Injustice 2 DLC character is easily Sub-Zero, who was given a decent enough description in the website. Sub-Zero has fought the Justice League before, during the Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe game on last-gen consoles. While his Jim Lee redesign looks great, he won’t add to the story, similar to Scorpion’s inclusion during Injustice 1.

Aside from the ice-themed assassin, Raiden was also teased during the game’s first DLC trailer, so more Mortal Kombat characters. Black Manta was also teased, so fans will appreciate that, since he was originally relegated as a background attack. Hopefully, NetherRealms focuses on DC characters, rather than Mortal Kombat guest spots that could be given to more interesting possibilities.

Injustice 2 is slated for a May 16 release on PS4 and Xbox One, with Darkseid as a pre-order bonus. DLC Pack 1 can be bought right away, via pre-ordering the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition of the game. Expect more DLC news soon, likely when the fighter has come out already.
