Injustice 2 Brainiac is a character many were interested in when the game’s first trailer hit the internet. Comic book fans always felt that he was one of the few villains that could pose as an actual threat to Superman. Now that the character was given time in the fifth Shattered Alliances trailer, we know who’s voicing him: Jeffrey Combs.

The name should be familiar to fans of Star Trek or the animated DC shows, so it’s good hearing him. From what can be heard, Combs does a great job as Brainiac and should put any worry to rest. Combs adds plenty of menace to one of Superman’s biggest enemies. Combs himself confirmed the role on Twitter.

Jeffrey and the Brain

Combs is an interesting choice for the Brainiac, but it seems to have worked out fine, given the amount of previous DC talent returning. Kevin Conroy reprises his speaking role as Batman and the world is all the better for that move. Ed Boon also hinted that Mark Hamill could be returning to his role as The Joker, so anything can happen.

Having Brainiac as the antagonist is an interesting choice, since he hasn’t appeared in any of the live-action movies. That being said, he was one of the major villains for the Superman animated series, so fans will remember him. Brainiac has also been in a number of well-known storylines featuring the Man of Steel, further cementing his place as a big villain.

Deadly Smarts

Aside from his fantastic voice, Injustice 2 Brainiac also has one of the more interesting fighting styles in the game. Marvel fans will compare some of his attacks to Spider-Man villain Doctor Octopus, since he uses a lot of metal tentacles. Overall, he could be a fairly interesting fighter, though there still isn’t much known about his fighting style or his finisher.

What’s worth noting is that this has been billed as the final Shattered Alliances trailer and it is quite epic. Superman is also seen fighting the villain, which can be considered extra spoilery for some fans curious about the story. The game is only a few weeks away, so it will be interesting to see if Joker is revealed anytime soon.

Injustice 2 is slated for a May 16 release and is coming out on the PS4 and Xbox One, with Darkseid as a pre-order bonus. More DLC is planned for the game and a mobile version is also set for a May release.
