NetherRealms has released another Shattered Alliances trailer for Injustice 2 and revealed that Black Adam would be a playable character. It was an interesting way to reveal the character, since the trailer mostly focused on the new history of Supergirl. The Shazam villain actually looks pretty good and should please fans hoping he would return from the first Injustice.

Black Adam’s inclusion also adds more credibility to the roster leak, so it seems like a legitimate source now. The character has always been a favorite to fans, often surpassing the popularity of hero Shazam, so no one’s complaining. Expect the character to play similarly to before, with a few new moves that should spice things up.

New Costume, New Finisher, New Attitude?

Like previous characters returning in Injustice 2, Black Adam has a new finisher and a great looking costume. The character has benefitted from the use of current-gen technology, along with the rest of the roster. With the gear system adding some RPG-like elements to the game, it will be fun customizing the powerful villain.

Fans who played the first game know that the villain sided with Superman, so him attacking Supergirl is interesting. He may have turned on Superman after their defeat, or maybe Kara Zor-El turned on her cousin — it’s all intriguing. We’ll have to wait and see if he plays a major part in the story, though we know Supergirl will.

No Shazam

Since he did die in the original game, we probably won’t see Shazam join Black Adam in Injustice 2. At most, the character will appear as an alternate skin for the villain with a different voice and quips. Characters confirmed as alternate skins thus far are Power Girl, Reverse Flash and Green Lantern John Stewart, with more to come.

There are more characters that haven’t been announced for the game, so players have a few more reveals to look forward to. Add the upcoming DLC characters and we have a pretty stacked fighting game for comic book fans. It’s clear that the sequel is looking to surpass the first game and it looks like it might be happening.

Injustice 2 is slated for a May 16 release on the PS4 and Xbox One, with a number of editions available for pre-order. Each one comes with a few specific bonuses, but they all give players Darkseid as a bonus character. A mobile version of the game is coming as well, along with a tie-in comic that details the gap between the first and second game.
