In the second Injustice 2 Broken Alliances trailer, fans got to see a number of characters confirmed for the game. Green Arrow was shown for the first time, and Green Lantern was given screen time. Both were expected and no one complained. It wasn’t just heroes that got the limelight, as several villains also made their debut in the trailer.
While we don’t get to see them fight, fans got glimpses of Captain Cold and Bane, essentially confirming them. Also shown was Reverse Flash, the arch nemesis of The Flash, who will be an alternate skin for the character. It’s odd that we haven’t seen them fight, but a character reveal is set for March 13, so who knows?
Like Doctor Fate before him, fans were expecting Captain Cold to join Injustice 2. Cold hasn’t always been too popular outside of comic book fandom, but that changed after CW’s The Flash. The villain’s stock rose after his initial appearances and he even had a starring role in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
Captain Cold aka Leonard Snart will be an interesting character for the game, since he’s not known for his hand-to-hand prowess. Players can expect him to be a fighter who specializes on range attacks and traps, which should be fun. He should get a gameplay trailer soon, since he’s one of the game’s more underrated characters.
Another character making his return from the first game, Injustice 2 Bane will probably play similarly to Injustice 1 Bane. He has a new costume and maybe a new finisher, but Bane enthusiasts shouldn’t expect him to be too different. The character has become a prominent villain again in DC Rebirth, so it’s no surprise to see him return.
It was smart of NetherRealms to make Reverse Flash an alternate skin for regular Flash, with a different voice actor. The skin is one of the bonuses for the Ultimate Edition, and it joins Power Girl as a Supergirl skin and Green Lantern (John Stewart) as a Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) skin. He will likely have the same move-set as The Flash but with different quips, so that should please fans.
Injustice 2 is slated for a May 16 release on PS4 and Xbox One, with Darkseid as a pre-order bonus. This is easily one of the most anticipated fighting games of the year, with more characters that haven’t been revealed. Check out the Broken Alliance trailer here.
