It is not surprising to see games with crossovers. It?s already been around for quite some time. Some are perfect matches (and mostly, because of the high demand for them), while others are just a big question mark to slap on your face. Some, however, are almost in between these two, and Hyrule Warriors happens to be one of them. It is an upcoming collaboration between Tecmo Koei and Nintendo. The game will feature Legend of Zelda characters and the gameplay of Dynasty Warriors. Crazy, right?
You?ve read that right, in case you?re wondering if there had been some mistake. Hyrule Warriors will feature Link from Zelda, although, it will leave the series? traditional RPG approach. We really can?t tell whether the game would be stripped down from any RPG elements, but we are definitely sure that it will be more like Dynasty Warriors, in terms of gameplay mechanics. No puzzles to solve or epic dungeons to explore here.
This game will instead focus on over-the-top battle, making Link, a one-man army menace to his enemies. Just like how each and every Dynasty Warriors games are. Legend of Zelda is not the first game to be associated with Tecmo Koei?s crowd control games. There?s Samurai Warriors, One Piece, Fist Of North Star and heck, even Joan of Arc got its share of over-the-top war game between one person versus a hundred.
Tecmo Koei is pretty positive that the game would be well received, and even sell a million copies, worldwide.
?In gaming, this is a first-time collaboration. As a new entry in the Warriors series, we plan to release the game Hyrule Warriors in collaboration with Nintendo in the summer of this year. In addition to our Warriors series fan base, Nintendo?s The Legend of Zelda is also a very popular series with a large fan base, and I think it will become a great new market. Because of The Legend of Zelda?s legion of fans overseas, we are aiming to sell more than one million copies worldwide.?
Knowing Dynasty Warriors, there?ll be a host of playable characters in the game. That?s something nice to get the game going and getting good feedback. It?s not possible to measure how the game will fare in the international market though, as it is something relatively new for both the titles.
