Huawei announced a third variant for its 2016 Mate series, the Mate 9 Pro for its home market China.

The Chinese manufacturer had just unveiled the flagship Huawei Mate 9 and Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design special edition in Europe. Both smartphones boast of dual rear camera setup in collaboration with Leica. Before the launch, quite a few rumors suggested that Huawei is also working on a Mate 9 Pro model.

The rumors proved true as Huawei finally added the Pro model to the series. At an exclusive launch event in China, Huawei introduced the Huawei Mate 9 Pro side by side with the regular Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design.

Mate 9 Pro Specifications

The Huawei Mate 9 Pro is basically a Porsche Design Mate 9, but without the premium design and high price tag. It features the same 5.5-inch dual-edge curved AMOLED Quad HD (2560?1440 pixels) display. And similarly, it is powered by a 2.5GHz octa-core Kirin 960 chip with either 4GB or 6GB RAM. Also, the device puts the fingerprint scanner on the front, just like the Porsche model.

The Mate 9 Pro is similarly highlighted with its Leica dual rear camera setup. It?s a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and a 12-megapixel RGB sensor. The RGB sensor does have OIS, and both have an aperture of f/2.2. The camera also supports 4K video recording capabilities. The front-facing camera is an 8-megapixel shooter with a f/1.9 aperture.

The Huawei Mate 9 Pro ?is powered by a 4000mAh non-removable battery along with a fast-charging feature. The dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone accepts Nano-SIM along with microSD card slot to further expand the onboard storage. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4G LTE with VoLTE voice calling support, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
