If you?re looking for a multimedia power house of a phone and you?re on the sprint network you are in for a treat! The HTC EVO is one of the most powerful phones announced this year, notice I said announced. There isn’t a phone on the market right now that can compete with this phone, even the HD2 comes up short. The EVO is going to be one of the first phones to incorporate the 1GHz snapdragon processor and a full 512MB of ram. Think about this for a second, before windows vista released to the public in January of 2007 512MB of ram was common place in a standard home PC! the EVO is faster than most PCs were a decade ago. The EVO will be running the latest version of android 2.1 and comes with a couple of the latest Google apps and HTC Sense preinstalled.
Andy Rubin, vice president of mobile platforms at Google had this to say.
?Sprint and HTC have come together to propel the Android platform into the 4G world with the introduction of HTC EVO 4G,?
“The Android platform was developed to give people unmatched mobile connectivity to the Internet. By combining this vision with the promise of Sprint?s first-to-market 4G technology, HTC EVO 4G makes accessing thousands of applications from Android Market, using Google? services like Google Goggles, Google Earth? and the all-new Gesture Search, or simply browsing the Web faster, easier and more enjoyable than ever before.?
Let?s get down to the multimedia experience you have been waiting to hear/read about. The 1GHz processor and 1/2GB of memory allows for a robust multimedia experience that includes being able to render full 720P high definition video. You can watch crisp video on the 4.3″ 800×480 resolution screen and prop it up on your desk with a kickstand that is built in to the back of the case. You can also connect to an HD screen utilizing the HDMI port it sports! Alongside a forward facing 1.3 MP camera, the 8.0 MP Camera can capture full 720p video as well. Hmm, maybe we should be using this for all of our E3 videos, HTC are you are reading this? The EVO also has a 3.5mm stereo headset for you audio junkies, you will never be without your music.
Peter Chou, CEO of HTC said
“HTC and Sprint have a strong history of working together to bring consumers technologies and advancements that make their lives easier, We believe that the HTC EVO 4G represents the best of Sprint and the best of HTC working together to bring an unmatched device to the U.S. This combination of HTC and Sprint innovation will allow people to do even more while on the go, faster than ever on the Sprint 4G network.?
This is the first android handset to have a 3G/4G radio so it will be able to utilize the sprint 4G network that is being expanded from the 27 markets it is currently available in. Built-in mobile hotspot functionality allowing up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices to share the 3G or 4G experience on the go with a laptop, camera, music player, game unit, video player, or any other Wi-Fi enabled device.
