The long wait is over — Samsung and HTC finally made their 2015 flagships official. The question is: How do the Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 stack up against one another? Take a look at what we?ve gathered below.
Samsung?s modus operandi before 2014 had always been the same: handset designs that are light and almost entirely made of plastic which gives its models a (somewhat) cheap feel. However, while still retaining the general aesthetics of Samsung flagships, the Galaxy S6 has virtually no plastic anywhere in its body. Its frame is carved out of aluminum and both the front and back are made of glass. Aside from that radical design move, Samsung also decided that the battery should be embedded (built-in) instead of the removable type that they had always offered for previous models.
The HTC One M9, meanwhile, is also a sealed phone (non-removable battery), similar to its predecessor, the One M8. In fact, both HTC One models have a lot in common?that you won?t be able to recognize the difference at first glance. It still sports the rounded unibody aluminum frame and the dual front-facing BoomSound speakers. But for the eagle-eyed tech watcher, they may notice that the power button, previously located at the top edge, is now moved to the right side. The black bezel at the bottom of the front panel has also been shrunk.
When it comes to performance, it?s still too early to judge. Until we see some official benchmark result, it will be hard to declare a winner. Having said that, we do know that Samsung had dropped Qualcomm as its chipset supplier and equipped its new Galaxy S6 (and S6 Edge) model with its own Exynos 7420 processor.
HTC, on the other hand, has chosen to stick with the chipset maker and integrate the One M9 with an octa-core Snapdragon 810 SoC (system-on-chip). If you?re wondering how the two killer flagships? specs will fare when placed alongside each other, check out what we?ve listed below.
