How to Manually Upgrade Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 to Android 4.4.2 KitKat With Optimised RAM and Enhanced Battery Life

Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 is still upgradable to Android 4.4.2 KitKat but not from its maker. Fusion-SP custom ROM brings all default Android KitKat goodies with extras such as optimisations on performance and extended battery life.

Requirements

  1. It is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 unlocked model only.
  2. Create a manual backup of all data files and system settings stored on the smartphone.
  3. Make sure that the battery level is at least 50 per cent to prevent power interruption during installation.
  4. Download and install the necessary USB drivers for Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 on your computer.
  5. Enable USB debugging mode on your device.
  6. Root the Samsung Galaxy S3 and install a ClockworkMod recovery.
  7. Download the Fusion-SP ROM and the Google Apps package on your computer.

Flashing Instructions

  1. Connect your Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 to the computer using a USB cable.
  2. Copy and paste the Fusion-SP custom ROM and the Google Apps package to the microSD card of your smartphone. Do not extract any of the zip files.
  3. Disconnect the smartphone from your computer then turn it off.
  4. Reboot the Galaxy S3 into Recovery Mode by pressing and holding the Volume up, Home and Power keys at the same time.
  5. Inside the Recovery Mode, create a nAndroid backup of the current ROM in case you want to revert back. Select ?backup and restore > backup? to make a save file. Use this process by selecting ?restore? to revert to the old ROM.
  6. Perform a full wipe on your Galaxy S3. Select ?wipe data/factory reset? and ?wipe cache partition.? Then select ?advanced > wipe Dalvik cache.?
  7. Install the Fusion-SP custom ROM by selecting ?install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card > search the Fusion SP firmware > confirm installation.? Apply the same method to install the Google Apps package.
  8. Once the installation has been completed, go back to the main menu and select ?reboot system now.?
