Chinese multinational company Huawei has unveiled its new handset – the Huawei Honor 8. A comparison of the specifications and features both the phones reveal that the Honor 8 is almost similar to Honor 7.
The company has not introduced any significant change in the Huawei Honor 8. The only notable change is in the camera department. It is expected to roll out in three variants. The main difference will be RAM and internal storage. The other hardware configurations will be similar in all variants. Here is the comparison between current Honor 7 and the all new Honor 8.
Display and Camera
Huawei has not made any significant change in the display of its new handset. Honor 8 supports the similar 5.2-inch display with the screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The capacitive touch screen of Honor 7 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 while Honor 8 will feature Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
On the other hand, Honor 8 is fitted with a dual-12 megapixel camera with the f/2.2 aperture. Honor 7 included 12 megapixel main camera with f/2.0 aperture. The camera is quite similar to the company?s P9 smartphone. Other camera features like dual-tone LED flash light, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama mode are the same. Moreover, Honor 8 will feature similar 8 megapixel front camera with LED flash.
Hardware and Platform
The Honor 7 is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 935 chipset and octa-core CPU with quad-core 2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 and quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU. A Mali-T628 MP4 is there for better graphics and video playback. It supports up to 3GB RAM and maximum 64GB internal storage.
Honor 8 is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 950 chipset with an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at up to 2.3 GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores that go up to 1.8 GHz. There is no information about the GPU of the device. The device has 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB internal storage.
Battery and other features
Huawei has not upgraded the battery of the device as the same 3000mAH battery will be powering the Honor 8. All other features including fingerprint reader, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass will be same as well.
According to GSMArena, the variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage will roll out with a $298 price tag. The 4GB variant either a 32GB and 64GB onboard storage will cost $343 and $373, respectively. Honor 7 is being sold for $296.49 by Amazon.
