AMC?s Hell On Wheels (HOW) Season 6 has been cancelled but there are rumors that a spinoff is in the works. Fans of the show are really hoping for a spinoff after the series ended with the finale of Season 5 last month, but it looks like it will be unlikely.
The cancellation of Season 6 was initially due to the show?s low viewership and the decision to wrap up the Western drama in the fifth season was already announced before its premiere. According to AsiaStarz, the chances for a spinoff to happen became even more unlikely because of the announcement that AMC will be airing a new show titled, The American West. The new show will revolve around the outlaws and lawmakers who played a big role in the history of America.
Aside from a new Western series airing on AMC, HOW showrunner, John Wirth, now has a new TV project under SundanceTV called Hap & Leonard, where he will be working as the showrunner. So it looks like all hope is lost for a HOW spinoff but who knows, the show could make one more run in the future.
The HOW Season 5 finale drew a total of 2.5 million viewers which includes 784k adults 25-54 based on Live +3 ratings, Deadline reports. The ratings weren?t too bad after all as Season 5 had an average of 2.6 million viewers per episode which includes 837k adults 25-54.
HOW is a Western drama set in the 1860s which follows the story of the construction of America?s Transcontinental Railroad and the greed and fraud behind it all. The series concluded with the finale titled ?Done,? which represents a lot of things in the story. It can refer to the completion of the railroad project, or the conclusion to Government hearings and other issues, and it can also refer to endings and perhaps the end of the series as well.
The series? central character Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount) and the Central Pacific Railroad worked hard in building America?s first transcontinental railroad system. He and his men faced greed, corruption, and violence throughout their struggle to build the railroad. After everything that he went through?losing his family and almost losing his life even?he wonders if it was all worth it. Does he still have a purpose after their victory in the railroad? What?s next after reaching the end of the line?
Do you think we can still expect Hell On Wheels Season 6? How about a spinoff?
