When Hearthstone was is still in beta mode, Mage was considered one of the best classes in the game. The big reason for this line of thought is because this class could build various freeze-based decks. However, the Freeze Mage deck?s strength dropped a bit after a few adjustments had been done. It has been a while, but now, it is starting to come back into style, partially due to the fact that RDU used a Freeze deck to claim his throne as the Dreamhack Summer Tournament Champion.
Now, to become a champion like RDU, or at least win more matches in ranked play, let us take a look at some of his awesome cards in his Freeze Mage Deck.
There are numerous ways to draw cards in your deck. The Azure Drake offers you to draw another card, and it is also a solid minion. The Azure Drake has four health and four damage, in addition, it also has a slight boost to your overall spell damage. You can put this multi-purpose card to good use in any situation. The Azure Drake can soak up a few minions as your opponent tries to destroy it, it can greatly boost your spell damage at the end game, or just simply lets you draw another card.
In Hearthstone, the Freeze Mage deck is not included in the highest damaging decks. And because of this, it would be a great idea to give yourself a bit of a boost. The legendary card, Alexstrasza will allow you to do this.
This card can be used to drop the health of your opponent to 15, or if you are near to death, this card can raise yours to 15.This dual purpose card is great for both offensive or defensive, depending on the situation.
This second legendary card has two purposes. One is to let you draw another card, the second is to give you a slight spell damage boost. And because Bloodmage Thalnos is very affordable (two mana), you play it in conjunction with other cards for great results. E.g.: You can play this legendary card, and then play two Fireball cards on turn 10 and deal a whooping 14 damage to your opponent.
